The team
Who are we?
We are a team of around 20 to 30 people who share a common goal: to compete with our Formula Student car in summer 2027. Our team brings together students from a wide range of programs across Umeå University, since we focus on finding the right people rather than the right degree program. Thanks to this broad mix of backgrounds, we have a wide range of knowledge that helps our team move closer to our goal!
Our timeline
- Spring 2026
The team is founded
A handful of students from different programmes at Umeå University decide to put the first Formula Student team in Umeå together.
- Autumn 2026
Recruitment opens
The founding group starts building out the subgroups and looking for members across every discipline.
- Winter 2026/27
Concept and design
Vehicle concept is locked and the design of the first car begins in earnest.
- Spring 2027
Manufacturing and testing
Parts come off the machines, the car is assembled, and the first shakedown runs happen.
- Summer 2027
First competition
Our first Formula Student event, and the goal everything so far has been built around.

Subgroups
The car is built by four groups that each own one part of it. These are the same choices you get in the application form.
Chassis & Composites
The frame, the bodywork and everything in between. The structure the whole car is built around.
Suspension & Brakes
Uprights, wishbones, steering and stopping power, the parts that decide how the car behaves on track.
High & Low Voltage
The accumulator, motors and wiring, plus the sensors and control electronics that keep it all talking.
Business & Marketing
Partnerships, budget and the cost and business events, which are worth real points at competition.
